Before speech:
1. Choose the topic in which you are interested in and know your material.
“If you are not familiar with your material or uncomfortable with it, your nervousness will increase. Practice your speech and revise it if necessary.”
2. Build up your self confidence and realize that people want you to succeed.
“Audiences want you to be interesting, stimulating, informative, and entertaining. They do not want you to fail.”
3. Make an outline of information that you are going to deliver
4. Check up your English skill (pronunciations, grammar, tone etc)
5. Prepare your stamina
While speech:
1. Lose your burden and forget your problem
2. Control your emotion
3. Retain eye contact with the audience
4. Assure your audience and not only to tell them
5. Maximize the use of your verbal and non-verbal communication
6. Concentrate on the massage – not medium. Focus your attention away from your own anxieties, and outwardly toward your massage and your audience. Your nervousness will dissipate.
7. Turn nervousness into positive energy. Harness your nervous energy and transform it into vitality and enthusiasm.
After speech:
1. Check up your audience’s response or interest
2. Evaluate what you have just delivered
3. Gain experience. Experience builds confidence, which is the key of effective speaking
